It is with great pleasure and excitement that the Bankstown Bruins announce their Head Coaches for the upcoming 2020 Senior and Junior Waratah League seasons.”

“We are really excited by the staff we have put together, and also very grateful to these wonderful coaches who have volunteered their time and energy to our teams and program. All of our staff have a great understanding of how we want to develop and grow our program and I look forward to working with all of them, as I’m sure they do their teams. It is going to be an exciting year.”- Will Lopez

“This year will see great change and a step towards youth for us, which will no doubt have its challenges. However, I have no doubt that with the great character of young ladies we will have we will battle this season and enjoy the journey.”

Will continues his role as Director of Coaching whilst also recently being named Head Coach of the NSW U16 Metropolitan Men’s side.

Lyle Vallance returns to the Bruins this season to prepare the Youth Men for battle. Lyle played his junior and senior basketball with the Bruins, and anyone who walks into the stadium is able to see his legacy on the Championships board.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be back involved in the Bruins Senior Program. I am looking forward to the opportunity to add another chapter to a club with a rich history of success.” Lyle says. Lyle shares his genius insight into the game of basketball with the U14 Division 1 women as well as taking on the forefront position of ‘head coach’.

Youth Women: Michele Austin

In her first role as a Senior Head Coach, Michele is “excited to see these young girls develop throughout the season, incorporating a running style of game with high intensity defence, and strong leadership and teamwork.”

Michele has already established herself as a renowned coach in the Bruins Junior Program, last year taking the U14 Girls to Australia Club Nationals where they took out 5th position. But for 2020, Michele brings previous experience and knowledge to the table, which will make for an exciting and energised Youth Women team and also the U16 Division 1 Women.
